On Saturday, February 23, Dr. John Derden will conduct his annual tour of sites associated with Sherman’s March through East Central Georgia. We will meet at 9 am at the Sudie Fulford Center at the entrance to East Georgia State College, where we will receive an orientation and tour packet. Then we will leave to tour sites in Emanuel, Burke, and Jenkins counties.
Of special interest is a stop at Magnolia Springs State Park, where Camp Lawton, the largest Confederate POW Camp in the world, was located. We’ll return to the Sudie Fulford Center at 6 pm.
The cost for the tour is $80, which includes lunch, transportation, and all other costs. Please call EGSC 478-289-2133 by February 20 to reserve a seat.
