On Saturday, February 23, Dr. John Derden will conduct his annual tour of sites associated with Sherman’s March through East Central Georgia. We will meet at 9 am at the Sudie Fulford Center at the entrance to East Georgia State College, where we will receive an orientation and tour packet. Then we will leave to tour sites in Emanuel, Burke, and Jenkins counties.
Of special interest is a stop at Magnolia Springs State Park, where Camp Lawton, the largest Confederate POW Camp in the world, was located. We’ll return to the Sudie Fulford Center at 6 pm.
The cost for the tour is $80, which includes lunch, transportation, and all other costs. Please call EGSC 478-289-2133 by February 20 to reserve a seat.

The Georgia History Festival‘s Super Museum Sunday will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at participating sites throughout Georgia. Georgians and visitors alike experience our state’s rich history and cultural life as historic sites, house museums, art museums, and other points of interest throughout Georgia open their doors to the public, providing an exceptional opportunity to experience the history in our own backyard.

Please join us at the Varner 4-H Center for our annual Spaghetti Lunch/Supper fund raiser! The meal costs $6.00 per plate and includes spaghetti noodles with meat sauce, green salad, garlic bread, cake, and tea or water.
The plates are served ready to go from 11:30 to 1:00 PM at lunch and 5:00 to 7:00 PM at supper, but you can eat at the center, too. We will deliver lunch plates to businesses that order 5 meals or more.
To purchase a ticket, contact a member of the Emanuel County Historic Preservation Society or the Swainsboro/Emanuel Chamber of Commerce. Orders should be placed by October 17.

Please join us as we celebrate the history of Emanuel County at our Annual Fall Harvest Open House. You will see period costumes, period decorations, and some crafts displayed.
There is no admission charged.
Please join us for our quarterly covered dish supper meeting of the Emanuel County Historic Preservation Society on April 25, 2019. The meeting is scheduled to start at 7 PM at the Varner 4-H Building at 220 S Circle Dr., Swainsboro, GA 30401
Meat and tea will be provided. Members, please bring vegetables, salads, and desserts to share with those in attendance.
After the meal, there will be a short business meeting during which
we will have our annual election of officers and board. This will be followed by an interesting historical program.
Visitors are welcome. We would love to have you join us for our meeting and consider joining the ECHPS. Annual dues are $10 per person.
